The effects of bubble bath hydrotherapy on knee range of motion in patients who have undergone total knee arthroplasty

This study examined whether hydrotherapy per formed in bubble baths improves knee range of motion in patients who have undergone total knee arthroplasty. The subjects included 11 patients (two males and nine females) who underwent unilateral total knee arthroplasty. In this study, we measured knee range o f motion test results preand post-bubble bath. The mean di fference in range o f motion test results obtained preand post-bubble bath showed the passive knee flexion range of motion o f the involved limbs, the active knee extension range o f motion o f the involved limbs and the passive knee extension range o f motion of the involved limbs to all signi ficantly improve following hydrotherapy performed in bubble baths.
